The official language of our country is Portuguese. However, another well-known language is English. For a long time, English has been a mandatory class in our schools. It is mostly used at commercial and financial centers, being also very present in our culture.

As an example, we can mention the dominance of American music in our radio stations. Another major presence is in movies, 90% of all the films shown in Brazil are produced in the USA. Movie theaters and cable TV channels offer American (and European) films in their original language.

Newspapers, books and magazines in English are largely available any time you want.

Other areas of our culture also show the importance of American influence, such as clothes and food. American jeans are present in Brazilian fashion for many years. And, obviously, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Mc Donald’s, Pizza Hut, Burger King and so many more are a must.
